Terms of use and privacy

These terms apply to using Skaidrs. By signing in with Google you accept them. We wrote them plainly — if anything is unclear, ask. The Latvian version is the binding one.

1. Who we are

Skaidrs (“we”) is an online bookkeeping tool for the self-employed and micro-enterprise tax payers in Latvia. You can reach us at info@irskaidrs.lv.

2. What Skaidrs does and doesn't do

Skaidrs helps you record income and expenses, issue invoices, read in bank statements and work out VSAOI and income tax, or micro-enterprise tax (MUN). The figures come from your entries and the rates in your settings.

Skaidrs is not tax or accounting advice. You file returns and reports with the SRS (VID) yourself and are responsible for their content and deadlines. Check the figures before filing — rates and rules can change.

3. Your account

You sign in with your Google account; the first time, your Skaidrs account is created automatically. An account is for one person and their own business. You are responsible for keeping your Google account secure.

4. Price

Skaidrs is currently free. If we introduce a fee, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance, and until then you can export your data and stop using it at no cost.

5. Your data

What we store: your name, email and profile picture link from Google; profile details you enter yourself (including your personal code, registration number and bank account, if you add them); your entries, receipts, invoices and client details.

A bank statement you upload is only read to show its transactions. We don't keep the file — only the entries you confirm are saved.

Why: only to provide this service (performance of a contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). We don't sell data, show ads or run usage analytics.

Where: the database and files are on Supabase servers in Frankfurt (EU); the app runs on Vercel servers in Frankfurt; Google handles sign-in. These companies process data on our behalf and briefly keep technical logs (such as IP addresses) for security and fixing errors.

For company lookup and name search, a client's registration number or the first letters of a company name (at least 3 characters) is sent to the Register of Enterprises open-data portal (data.gov.lv). The registration number alone also goes to the European Commission's VIES system — nothing else.

Who can see it: no other user can see your data. We access it only when you ask us to (for support, say) or when the law requires it.

Client details: you are the controller of the client data on your invoices; we process it on your behalf.

How long: for as long as you have an account. If you delete your account in Settings, the data is deleted at once; if you ask us by email, within 30 days. You must keep accounting records for the period the law requires — export them before deleting.

Your rights: to access, correct, delete and receive your data (Excel export) and to object to processing — write to info@irskaidrs.lv. You can complain to the Data State Inspectorate (dvi.gov.lv).

Cookies: only those needed to keep you signed in, and one that remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. No tracking cookies.

6. Availability and liability

We try to keep Skaidrs running and correct but can't guarantee it — the service is provided as is. Export your data regularly.

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses, fines or late-payment interest caused by incomplete entries or calculations. This does not limit your rights as a consumer.

7. Stopping

You can stop using Skaidrs at any time. You can delete your account and all its data at once under Settings → Account, or ask us to by writing to info@irskaidrs.lv. We may close an account used abusively or unlawfully, and will warn you first where we can.

8. Changes to these terms

We will announce material changes in the app or by email at least 14 days in advance. If you keep using Skaidrs after that, you accept the new terms.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Latvia. We try to settle disputes by talking; failing that, the Latvian courts decide. As a consumer you can also turn to the Consumer Rights Protection Centre (ptac.gov.lv).
